about the artist
Sharon Morgera began her career as a commercial lettering artist during a two-year apprenticeship with internationally known bravura penman, Raphael Boguslav. After perfecting her hand, she developed a thriving calligraphy business in Newport, Rhode Island designing invitations, menus and custom maps.
Sharon’s lifelong passion for illustration led her to complete work towards a certificate in Natural Science Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. She now incorporates botanical drawings and architectural watercolors into many of her commissioned works.
Sharon’s art has been published in Bliss Celebrations, Rhode Island Monthly, Newport Life and Princess House promotional materials. Corporate clients include Auberge Resorts, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Brooks Brothers, Salve Regina University, The International Tennis Hall of Fame, Newport Chocolates and the Preservation Society of Newport County.
After more than 25 years of lettering and design work, calligraphy remains Sharon's primary interest, specializing in hand lettering using script, italic and custom fonts.
